Important message for all adult ladies!
Bunnaiyat-ul-Eid-iz-Zahabi (Nairobi) is organizing a health fair for married ladies from 20-75 years of age.
The Mammogram and Pap smear tests will be performed at MP Shah Hospital .We urge all ladies falling in this age group to take advantage of the hospital's discounted group rates and take an active part in the maintenance of good health.
The mammogram is a X-ray test that screens for breast cancer. This type of cancer is increasingly common in our community and is most easily cured when discovered at an early age. The Pap smear is an invasive yet effective screen for Cervical Cancer and involves the removal and examination of cells of the lower part of the Uterus.
Those particularly at risk for such cancers are those who:
1-have a personal or family history of cancer,
2-have undergone menopause after the age of 55, or use horomone therapy,
3-had their first full term pregnancy after age 30 or never had a full term pregnancy,
4-are overweight or obese,
5-are physically inactive.
We, BEZ members, beseech all women who fall in these categories to become proactive in your own health. Remember, an ounce of prevention is better than a pound of cure!
