Medical camp details - Who is it for?

Toloba follow up medical camp - DETAILS

Who it is for?
From the statistics of the previous toloba camp held last year it was realized that our community's main problems are diabetes, hypertension, patients with cholesterol problems and patients with cardiac issues. Therefore this camp has been specifically organized for people with the above mentioned problems and also anyone else who feels the need of being tested.

What tests we are offering and there benefits!
All the above disorders are interrelated, many times patients don't suffer from one disorder only, for instance they can be diabetic, have hypertension and also have cholesterol issues or be hypertensive and have cardiac issues or at times one patient suffers from all the disorders! Therefore we are offering tests that will cover all the above mentioned disorders.

-Fasting Blood Glucose-this will tell us what your current sugar level is which gives us an idea if your current medication and dose is working or not. It will also help us get any new cases of diabetes.

-Lipid Profile- this tells us the levels of your good cholesterol(HDL), your bad cholesterol(LDL) and the total cholesterol in your body. If LDL is high this means the risks of getting a heart attack increases exponentially especially if you also suffer from diabetes.

-Glycosylated Hemoglobin- this will tell us how your sugar levels have been for the past 3months. If it is high it means that the medication is not working correctly or the patient is not taking the medication regularly or there is another problem that is causing the sugar levels to increase.

-Urinalysis-The kidneys are one of the first organs to be affected by the above disorders therefore this test will tell us if the kidneys have been affected or not.

-Funduscopy- The retina in the eye is also a common site affected by these disorders. An ophthalmologist is going to check if your retina has been affected or not.

How it will be carried out?
The camp will be held in two parts, the first part which will be held on 31st January will entail taking of blood samples for the tests to be carried out and then the next part which will be on the 7th of February will entail consultation with specialists; physicians, diabetologist, cardiologists, ophthalmologists and nutritionists.

E.C.G. will be done at an extra cost of Ksh 600/- ONLY
